Reverend Pinckney served on the Board of Directors of Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company from 2010 until his unfortunate passing on June 17, 2015.

Educated at Allen University, University of South Carolina and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. He began preaching at the age of 13. He loved the Lord, the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, his family and the people of God. He was serving with distinction as pastor of the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston at the time of his un-timely death.

He was the youngest African American in South Carolina history to be elected to the South Carolina State Legislature. He served in the Legislature from 1996 until passing in 2015.

Reverend Pinckney is survived by his wife Jennifer Benjamin Pinckney, daughters Eliana Yvette and Malana Elise, other family members and the countless people whose lives he touched – including those of us at SMCI.

I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43
